We celebrated my birthday and Karen’s at Little Italy in downtown Vancouver with Dad, Carla, Stacey, John, and Glenn.
We watched the Portland State Vikings football team end a fabulous (and unexpected) season. They lost a playoff game to Northern Iowa at Providence Park, but what a season. Go Viks!
I read Openness Unhindered: Further Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert on Sexual Identity and Union with Christ. An excellent book that makes a strong contribution to the current discussion of homosexuality, same-sex marriage, and gender identity. Read it!
We enjoyed the Christmas musical celebration of Portland Christian Church for the second year in a row. Very, very well done!
For the first time in a long time, I left a spoon in the casserole I was baking. We discovered it when we cut into it.
We had a surprise visit from Marty and Rachel Franke (along with Lucy, Lydia, and Helen)! Boy, was it good to see them!
We celebrated the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ during a Christmas Eve service at Cross Creek Bible Church. The choir was excellent (and large – 25 people!). I preached a sermon titled, “Cradle, Cross, Crown.” It was great to see so many there, including family and friends!
We enjoyed Christmas celebrations with both sides of the family. What a blessing!
We had a great time at John and Stacey’s “Leftover” party on the 27th.
We completed our read-through-the-Bible-in-a-year together. Reading out loud certainly adds to it.
I continued to preach through the Gospel of John at Cross Creek Bible Church, and finished an adult Sunday School teaching on the Apostle’s Creed.
